Fascinating view near La Catalina:

On the left Cabo Frances Viejo national park with the old lighthouse, right the town of Cabrera

Overcrowded on Sundays and holidays, but during the week one of the best beaches along the north-coast: Playa Caleton. The bay is protected by rocks so that swimming is always possible. Trees down to the waterline provide shadow and right behind the beach a large selection of grilled fish, langostas and drinks are available.

Some kilometers east: Next to Playa Grande is Playa Preciosa. Very nice to view, during day and with rising moon (below), but too many stones in the water for good swimming.

The boat-trip to Laguna Gri Gri from Rio San Juan is worth it, as long as the ocean is calm.

Turquoise water,

mangroves and

the “bridge”, which resulted from an earthquake long ago
